Job Summary
The CU Collegiate Recovery Community (CUCRC) encourages applications for a Collegiate Recovery Coordinator! This position furthers student success/student well-being by planning, coordinating, and implementing high quality, recovery supportive programming for students engaged in the program. Programs include, but are not limited to, peer recovery support, service opportunities, sober social activities, and academic success. The role will provide resources and materials to friends and family members of persons in or seeking recovery. This position will educate the campus community about recovery and be the primary point of contact for students in the Collegiate Recovery Program community.
Who We Are
The CUCRC provides support for students in recovery or seeking recovery from substance use and other addictions. The CUCRC offers a welcoming student community and resource lounge, free support meetings on campus, sober social events, and one-on-one recovery coaching and referrals provided by professional staff experienced in recovery.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Programming
- Work closely with the Health Promotion team to plan, coordinate, and implement programming and social events for students in recovery. This may include night and weekend work.
- Assist with the facilitation and scheduling of recovery meetings.
- Coordinate the development of leadership and other service opportunities for students in recovery.
Education and Outreach
- Plan educational outreach events designed to increase awareness of recovery programming for students in recovery or in contemplation of recovery.
- Coordinate training and presentation offerings on recovery and recovery services in consultation with the HP training and coaching program manager.
- Represent the Health Promotion department and the collegiate recovery program in campus-wide student-facing events and programs.
Recovery Support & Professional Development
- Respond to inquiries regarding recovery supportive programming from students, families, or community members.
- Provide non-clinical peer-based recovery support to those new to a recovery community, such as facilitating connections to other students, providing a welcoming and safe environment, and referring students to additional campus resources.
- Assist in the collection and tracking of data related to program activities.
- Participate in professional development activities.

- This in-person position will have some evening and weekend work.

What We Can Offer
The annual salary for this position is $42,000 – $53,000. Onboarding assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree. (Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.)
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a college health environment, or other field related to mental health/substance use.
- Experience working with a college-age population.
What You Will Need
- Cultural competence related to recovery language, communities, and resources.
- Ability to relate effectively to and engage undergraduate and graduate students, staff, faculty, and community agencies.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Willingness and flexibility in acquiring knowledge for growth of expertise, learning, and program effectiveness.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience in a collegiate recovery community as staff member, intern, member or volunteer.
- Familiarity with support resources available to CU students, faculty, and staff.
- Trained as a peer support specialist or ability to receive peer support specialist designation upon employment.
- Experience planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion or recovery support initiatives.
