OPS Research Assistant
Job Description:Slide Scanning
- Retrieve histology slides from UF Pathology labs
- Microscopic scan of histology slides at Molecular Pathology Core
- QC images and re-scan as necessary
- Download images
- Upload images to HiPerGator
- Scan Pathology notes
- Upload Pathology notes to HiPerGator
- Input Pathology notes to REDCap
Clinical data input
- Access requested patient health records
- Input requested patient information in REDCap
- Work with lead nephrologist to review data for completeness and accuracy
- Complete HIPAA compliance training and maintain patient privacy at all times
Data management
- Manage histology data independently
- Manage file backup
- Box Folders
- Manage HiPerGator folders
- Reach out to admin regarding organization of folders
- Develop organization workflows with Data Scientist
- Ensure data management documents are up-to-date
- Attending data management meetings
Misc
- Build rapport with UF Pathologists
- Report to staff EOD
- Input hours each work day
- Any additional work within the scope of data management as assigned
$18/hr
Required Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a health, biological, or data-related field preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Willingness to handle and transport histology slides and clinical records within campus buildings.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and institutional privacy requirements (HIPAA training will be provided).
- Dependable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Willingness to learn new systems and workflows, including REDCap and data upload procedures.
- Prior experience working in a clinical, lab, or academic research environment.
- Familiarity with REDCap or data entry systems.
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as EPIC.
- Previous exposure to digital slide scanning or histology/imaging workflows.
- Comfort with organizing digital files and using platforms like Box or shared drives.
- Interest in health sciences, biomedical research, or data management.
- Experience working with or supporting faculty, clinicians, or graduate students in a research setting.
