Sterile Equipment Technician
Classification Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.
Job Description:This position is located in Sterilization, College of Dentistry and has the responsibility for cleaning dental instruments and the preparation of them for sterilization. The incumbent operates and maintains a variety of sterilization equipment.
- Dispensing clean instruments to dental students and departments, using computer program Axium and the INFO-DOT process. Collecting, tracking, and processing dirty instruments according to sterilization protocol.
- Disinfecting and sterilizing dental instruments for all UFCD dental students and the UFCD dental clinics. Replacing broken or missing instruments for UFCD dental students.
- Recording incoming and outgoing instruments from students and departments.
- Oiling and maintaining instruments.
- Checking bur blocks for burs that need to be replaced because of wear or because the bur has been discarded. Requires critical attention to detail.
- Maintaining office supplies inventory.
- Labeling and scanning with the Axium program.
- In-service training (updates, new sterilization techniques, and computer classes).
Other related duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:$16.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:- Dental Assistant certification or equivalent training.
- Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to plan, organize, and preform work assignments.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
