We are searching for someone to join our dynamic team who shares the same passion and mission. We are looking for a Department Coordinator for the Department of German and Russian Languages and Literatures.
The person in this position provides administrative and secretarial support for the chair and faculty of the Department of German and Russian Languages and Literatures, serves as the liaison for the department with all internal and external entities, supervises student workers, and is required to maintain strict confidentiality in all sensitive matters.
The Department Coordinator works in conjunction with the Department Chair to oversee all departmental operations, including but not limited to:
- Communications, events, faculty hires, leaves and promotions
- Monitoring departmental financial accounts (restricted accounts, tracking expenses, stewardship reporting, etc.)
- Coordinating the gathering of information and processing reports as needed; record & distribute the minutes of department meetings
- Hires and oversees student workers
- Assists the department chair and faculty as needed
- Manages the chair's calendar, correspondence, and travel
- Oversees the department's physical spaces and manages bulletin board and display case
- Receives visitors and phone calls to the department in a courteous and professional manner
- Orders office supplies, keep the office well organized and neat in appearance, maintains filing systems
- Works with the Directors of Undergraduate Studies in German and in Russian to plan and schedule courses and assist students with course registration.
- Sorts and distributes mail
- Maintains and updates the department web page
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- A minimum of 1-2 years of administrative experience is required
