Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.

The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, is seeking a Laboratory Technician who will facilitate the day-to-day activities related to multiple research projects in an infectious disease laboratory performing basic research. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: perform specimen processing, bacterial culture, and DNA extractions. The Laboratory Technician will also assist with lab organization, general maintenance, and upkeep. Attention to detail, excellent written and oral communications, and the ability to work in a team are essential skills for success in this position.
Essential Functions
This position requires a high level of mobility, manual dexterity, logistical/organizational planning, visual acuity and basic computer skills.
Physical Effort
This position requires that the applicant travel between laboratories, campus buildings and to sit or stand at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time.
