Job Purpose:
Provide the delivery of financial assistance to new and continuing applicants and loan processing.
Essential Duties:
- Review and award financial aid packages for designated cohorts compliant with federal, state and institutional policies and guidelines- Responsible to research student loan records with National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and Common Origination and Disbursement(COD), including updating any required data and reconciling records- Counsel prospective, new, current students and parents in person and in group settings concerning application, eligibility, status, and awarding of financial aid and financing programs as well as general inquiries- Verification and evaluation of student application data using federal tax information, asset review forms, household size/number in college form and other verification documents to determine eligibility for federal, state and institutional need-based assistance- Resolve Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), application problems and resolution of edit messages, including citizenship and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)- Monitor student outside resources and determine impact on financial aid assistance- Serve as liaison and/or committee member with various internal and external constituencies, as required
Additional Skills Required:
- Maintain knowledge and proficiency with technological skills required for performanceof general and program specific duties used for the administration of financial aid, including but not limited to knowledge and proficiency of federal, stateand institutional aid programs,- Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)- Familiarity with relational databases and other recruitment systems, Banner preferred- Excellent organizational skills- Must maintain highest levels of accuracy and attention to detail- Excellent verbal and written communications skills- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment- Must be able to support the Universitys commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
- Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the Universitys Catholic and Jesuit mission
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree required
Preferred Education:
Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
- One year of experience in financial aid counseling or working directly with customers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred
Schedule/Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Additional hours as required.
