Full Job DescriptionReports to: This position reports to the Windham Regional Career Center Director Position Summary: The Health Careers Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to high school students enrolled in health sciences courses, including Human Growth and Development, Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, and a Licensed Nurse Assistant (LNA) certification program. This position includes curriculum development, student assessment, clinical coordination, and career preparation to support students transition into healthcare pathways.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instructional Delivery: Teach and manage classroom and lab instruction in Health Careers courses.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage diverse learners and support academic and technical skill development.Deliver course content aligned with national standards, industry expectations, and state CTE frameworks.Program Coordination: Coordinate and supervise clinical experiences required for LNA certification in collaboration with partnering healthcare facilities.Ensure compliance with all state and regulatory requirements related to nurse assistant training programs.Maintain accurate records of student clinical hours, competencies, and progress.Curriculum and Assessment: Develop and revise curriculum to reflect current industry practices and standards.Design and implement formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and technical skill proficiency.Prepare students for success on certification exams (e.g., LNA).Career Preparation: Integrate employability and workplace readiness skills into instruction.Foster connections with local healthcare employers to support student internships, job shadowing, and post-secondary opportunities.Student Support: Advise and mentor students on academic, career, and post-secondary pathways.Differentiate instruction and provide accommodations for students with diverse learning needs.Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.Qualifications: Required: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in nursing or related health care field.Eligibility to obtain or currently hold appropriate state teaching licensure or endorsement in Health Science Careers (per [states] licensing requirements).Experience and/or willingness to supervise clinical instruction for LNA certification.Preferred: Previous teaching experience in secondary or post-secondary settings.Experience working with high school students in a CTE or health science context.Familiarity with trauma-informed, equity-focused, and student-centered instructional practices.Work Environment: Classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for clinical supervision.Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, move equipment, and assist students in lab and clinical settings.Meet physical requirements for supervising students in healthcare environments, including lifting, bending, and the use of PPE.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations Excellent organizational skills Skilled in teaching high school age learners Willingness to work on a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements Possess strong interpersonal skills Ability to work independently
