Position Summary
Join the Laundry Services team that ensures clean and fresh clothing and linens for Wisconsin veterans!
Laundry Workers at King are responsible for cleaning laundry for members and operational units of the Veterans Home. Duties include but are not limited to sorting and folding laundry, loading and emptying laundry trucks, operating laundry-processing equipment, and maintaining a clean work area. All work is performed following standard safety principles and practices and the Home's standard operating procedures.
Salary Information
Starting wage is $15.86 per hour, with additional compensation for weekends and holidays.
The position is eligible for an attractive employee benefits package.
The position is in pay schedule-range 03-08. For current State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
Laundry Workers at King work a standard eight-hour shift Monday through Friday either 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., plus rotating weekends and holidays.
Job duties include moving laundry carts, lifting and moving bags of laundry weighing up to 70 pounds, operating loud and/or shaking equipment, wearing personal protective equipment, and standing for prolonged periods.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications

Additional minimum and preferred experience that will be assessed at a later stage in the selection process are:
- Following safety policies and standards; and
- Working independently; and
- Performing manual labor; and
- Identifying, sorting and prepping textiles; and/or
