Responsibilities
- Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings
- Perform research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions
- Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence
- Advise clients by weighing available options toward a successful outcome and plan a course of action
- Identify client conflicts and determine case strategies with options for resolution
- Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills required
- Ability to use Microsoft Office is required
- Prior experience working in a law firm for a minimum of 1-2 years required
- Successful completion of accredited law school with Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree with 2 years of related experience
- Jobseekers should be a member of their local bar association - active member preferred Association
- Education Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience (10 years preferred) with a strong background in workers’ compensation.
- Legal Research and Writing Able to litigate workers’ compensation cases from the beginning of the case to settlement or trial, to appeals if necessary.
- Computer Proficiency Proficiency with contemporary legal software and legal research programs. Our primary Saas is Smart Advocate. If not familiar, then extensive training will be provided.
- Bar Association Membership Must be licensed in the state of South Carolina.
- Client Advocacy Proven ability to provide compassionate and effective client counseling and representation in court.
