ENGINEERING ESTIMATOR

$500 Sign on Bonus offered - paid out in equal parts after 90 and 180 days of active employment. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consults with customers to understand and satisfy customers needs
• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
• Consult with vendors to discuss and formulate estimates
• Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors including assisting the Purchasing Department in some cases
• Prepare estimates for the purpose of planning and scheduling work
• Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components
• Prepare quote for special situations/customer requests
• Prepare sales orders for special situations/customer requests
• Prepare job order and drawings for manufacturing
• Perform engineering functions to validate design of job/parts
• Assist Sales Department, Engineering Department, Purchasing Department, and/or Shop Department personnel with questions/prints for jobs as required.
• Other duties as assigned

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel, Made2Manage, Internet Explorer, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Outlook.

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree in Engineering (A. A. / A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training:

Vocational school training in a related field

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
