Mailroom & Shipping / Receiving Clerk (On-Call, Contract Position)
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Mailroom & Shipping / Receiving Clerk to join our team on an on-call, contract basis. This role involves managing incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and shipments while ensuring efficient and accurate distribution within the organization. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent organizational skills, and works effectively with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Mailroom Duties :
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to appropriate departments or individuals.
Process outgoing mail, including letters, packages, and bulk shipments.
Maintain detailed records of all incoming and outgoing mail for tracking purposes.
Operate and maintain mailroom equipment, such as postage meters, scanners, and printers.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of mail and packages within the organization.
Shipping & Receiving Duties :
Accept, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against invoices or purchase orders.
Notify relevant departments or individuals of received shipments.
Prepare outgoing shipments, including proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.
Coordinate with shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.) for pickups and deliveries.
Maintain an organized receiving area and ensure an adequate inventory of shipping supplies.
Assist in tracking shipments and resolving delivery issues when necessary.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience : Previous experience in mailroom operations, shipping / receiving, or a warehouse environment is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with shipping software (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.).
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a dynamic environment.
Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to [XX] lbs.
Work Schedule
On-Call : Hours vary based on business needs and demand.
