What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Coordinator position at Archdiocese of St. Louis?
Position Summary
Furthers the mission and vision of St. Francis Borgia Parish by working in conjunction with the Pastor, Parish and School office, Parish ministers and employees to develop, manage and deliver comprehensive, unified and effective communications. This position will manage all aspects of parish communications including, but not limited to print, electronic and social media. Due to the unique responsibilities of this role, the successful candidate must be a practicing Catholic.
Duties & Responsibilities
Managing of Parish and School websites using the eCatholic framework and social media sites (Facebook and Instagram).
Managing of parish electronic communication methods, including but not limited to My Parish App, Flocknotes, YouTube.
Taking pictures and videos, when possible, to record parish and school events and share photos/videos on website and social media in a timely manner. Maintaining Photo & Video Albums on Google Drive/Office Network.
Branding of internal and external media.
Creating electronic newsletters and seasonal communications.
Manage SignUp.com and other online accounts for special events.
Production of weekly bulletin.
The duties and responsibilities of this position are not limited to the above; the person in this role must be willing to work with the Pastor on other job duties as needed.
As a representative of our Parishes, projects professional and appropriate appearance, attitude and demeanor.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience
Experience and demonstrated skills in communication through print and digital communication, online services, social media platforms, database management, traditional marketing and variable digital marketing
Capability with proof reading, proper spelling and grammar and able to produce error free materials
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher), Canva, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Google Mail, Docs, and Sheets
Basic knowledge of computer hardware and audio/visual technology a plus
Forward thinking and willing to seek new opportunities and methods to improve communications
Must have general knowledge and support of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies
Skills & Attitudes Required for Success in Job
Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and balance several projects at one time. Strong attention to detail.
Must have good interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral.
Must have ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and be self-motivated. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds, climb stairs and walk around campus and between buildings.
Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Must complete “Protecting God’s Children” course and pass background check.
Relationships Requirements
Must be able to work with the Pastor, office staff, and other parish and school employees and volunteers to maintain a professional and friendly workplace.
