Job Summary:
The Institutional Physician provides professional medical care and medication management to offenders within a correctional center. The physician operates a Doctor's Office Practice, supported by a Nurse Manager, and is responsible for analyzing patients' histories, symptoms, and physical findings to develop appropriate diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional medical care and medication management to offenders.
- Analyze patients' histories, symptoms, and physical findings to develop appropriate diagnoses.
- Diagnose or treat acute healthcare problems, such as illnesses, infections, or injuries.
- Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized.
- Assist with preparation and modification of treatment plans and recommend to appropriate programs.
- Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to individual circumstances.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited medical college.
- Completion of an approved residency in a primary care specialty.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
- Board eligible or certified in a primary care specialty.
- Extensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
Salary : $225,000 - $326,353
