Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Helper
Key Responsibilities:
- Review work schedules, perform safety checks on equipment and obtain supplies required to perform tasks.
- Assist in performing regular scheduled inspections of tractors, complete checklists and make routine repairs as needed.
- Operate electric arc welding equipment to repair ramps, ladders and tripods, repair or construct new cargo bars.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
- 6-12 months interpret data requiring advanced skills knowledge equivalent to 6-12 months training in truck/automotive maintenance
Work Environment:
Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
Regularly lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull heavy objects, stand for long periods, bend/stoop, climb stairs/ladders and walk for extended periods.
Exposed to noise from equipment operation, temperature extremes, hazardous materials, slippery floors and variable lighting conditions.
Work in cramped spaces and maintain focus in high stress situations.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and earplugs.
Reliable transportation is not provided.
