Status: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Director of Student Success coordinates and conducts academic advising for students in the School of Engineering, participates in recruiting activities, directs, and creates K12 outreach activities and events, assists student professional organizations, professional development activities, industry partnerships and student competition teams, and provides mentoring of the School of Engineering students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct student advising for the School of Engineering, including intentional retention efforts.
  • Collaborate with other UG Academic Advising units, Registrar’s Office, Veteran’s Affairs, Financial Aid, Counseling Services, Disability Services, and other academic support units.
  • Oversee selection/training of Engineering Tutors and Academic Success Coaches
  • Supervise two Teacher’s Aid students to assist with School of Engineering events.
  • Create, develop, and direct K12 Outreach activities and events, including summer camps, Engineering Days and PD for K12 teachers. Hire and train engineering students to assist.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with NC community colleges creating a pipeline of future students for Campbell University and the School of Engineering
  • Facilitate and/or assist with other recruiting activities, including tours, visitation days, accepted student days, summer orientations, and one-on-one advisement for prospective students.
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects and still meet strict deadlines.
  • Collaborate with and interact with engineering professionals.
  • Organize, direct, and prioritize work appropriately.
  • Manage time well and work under stressful conditions with an even temperament.
  • Teach the 10-week Spatial Visualization Skills module to first year students.
  • Detail oriented and willing to work in a changing environment including researching new ways of accomplishing tasks, participating in training sessions, and being a self-starter.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates.

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering or related STEM field strongly preferred.
  • Experience with K12 outreach, student professional organizations and/or competition teams, interest in recruiting and mentoring undergraduate engineering students desired.
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all groups through both oral and written channels.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and web/text/chat platforms
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials, industry partners, and the public.
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Exercise good judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours.
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
