What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Golf Professional position at City of Arlington?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Sales and cash handling, operating a point-of-sale system to assist customers with duties including but not limited to:
o Receives and records daily green fees.
o Annual tickets.
o Golf equipment.
o Rents golf carts.
o Potential sale of alcoholic beverages, food, and non-alcoholic beverages.
o Balances and prepares daily deposits of monies received.
o Electronic tee sheet function.
o Inventory management and sales.
o Membership management.
o Various discount programs.
- Receives, modifies tee sheet for tournament bookings, coordinates and records tee time reservations and monitor play on golf course to ensure smooth play and proper pace of play.
- Assist with instructional programs.
- Facilitates tournament operations including but not limited to:
o Utilization of event software to prepare player lists/hole assignments.
o Cart signs.
o Tournament scorecards and scoreboards.
o Provide scoring at the conclusion of the event.
- Works with the Food and Beverage department to ensure timely delivery of tournament meals and beverage cart service.
- Answers public relations questions regarding golf, including but not limited to:
o The course conditions.
o Clubhouse operations.
o Merchandising.
o Directing staff with tournament and day to day operations.
- Assists with selecting, hiring, training, scheduling and supervising employees’ activities involved in the day-to-day clubhouse operations to include:
o Cart Attendants.
o Food and Beverage Workers.
o Beverage Cart Attendants.
o Clubhouse Attendants.
- Oversees and implements the City of Arlington Golf Volunteer program. Maintains timely records.
- Directly supervises the daily golf car fleet including upkeep, maintenance, workflow process and rotation program.
- Ensures cars are clean and fit for rent and pace of play is being maintained.
- Perform custodial tasks in and around the clubhouse including but not limited to vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping, window cleaning and dusting.
- Assists the Head Golf Professional with golf lessons, tournaments, special events and tournament operations.
- Sells products and services offered by the facility, replenish stock as needed and answer detailed questions regarding merchandise.
- Balances cash register drawer.
- Perform related duties as needed or directed such as opening and closing the clubhouse, inventory management, instructional programs and ensure clubhouse and surrounding area is clean.
- Responds to customers’ needs to ensure a pleasant experience and to provide optimal service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of clubhouse operations.
- Knowledge of golf instructional programs.(Specify)
- Knowledge of merchandising operations.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations to include the sales and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Knowledge of golf tournament operations.
- Knowledge of basic golf cart operations to include routine maintenance and service schedules.
- Knowledge of golf rules, regulations, and golf etiquette.
- Skill in planning, promoting and operating golf tournaments.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective communications with the public, staff, and the maintenance department.
- Ability to perform a variety of physical skills, including but not limited to, seeing, carrying, kneeling, twisting body, standing, vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping, window cleaning and dusting.
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to telephone, calculator, and personal computer.
- Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 45 pounds; and push/pull 25 lbs. for 40 feet.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- High Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years' experience in clubhouse operations which includes:
o Pro shop operations.
o Food and beverage operations.
o Maintaining a fleet of electrical golf carts.
- Must possess valid Texas Operator's License, Class C.
- Completion of Level 1 or higher in the PGA-Professional Golf Management Program.
- Must have the ability to obtain Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Seller/Server certification within three (3) days of hire and ability to obtain Food Handler's certificate or the ability to obtain within seven (7) days of hire.
