This position is for the Crisis Receiving Center
The Clinician II operates as part of a new comprehensive 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization team that provides ongoing assessment, crisis intervention and clinical determination for level of care to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This dynamic team addresses urgent behavioral health needs including but not limited to significant emotional dysregulation, disordered thought processes, substance use intoxication resulting in behavioral crisis and environmentally de-stabilizing events that require multi-disciplinary crisis intervention.
The Clinician II will be responsible for providing person-centered, trauma-informed care to these individuals with the goal of stabilization at the least restrictive level of care and an emphasis on post crisis growth. An ideal candidate will work well with multiple internal and community stakeholders including police, community partners, peer support and emergency services staff to coordinate care and safety in the community. The candidate will have knowledge of care coordination, safety planning, crisis intervention, levels of care, community resources and trauma-informed practices that promote client engagement.
Typical Tasks of the Clinician II include:
- Develops individualized treatment plans based on the comprehensive needs assessment that focuses on client strengths and resources.
- Facilitates crisis intervention and skills restoration for improvement of acute symptoms.
- Conducts safety planning to prevent the need for a higher level of care.
- Engages in care coordination and transition to the next level of care, including screening and referrals for appropriate behavioral health services and community resources.
- Completes clinical documentation in electronic health record and assure that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information are done accurately and within the time frame required.
- Assists with triage of possible referrals to the CRC.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Candidates must have BS in Human Services (psychology, social work, special education, etc.) preferably supplemented by considerable experience in working with persons who experience intellectual/developmental disabilities.
A master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation is required for some assigned programs.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience. Depending on assignment, may require Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP – Adult or Child) or Qualified Developmental Disability Professional (QDDP) certification and highest Part C standards within 6 months of hire; CPR, First Aid and medication administration certifications within 3 months of hire, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) certification upon hire, Case Management Modules and Intellectual Disabilities Workbook completed within thirty days of hire, Part C Early Intervention Certification within six months of hire, and/or Pre-Screening Certification within 6 weeks of hire (12 weeks for part-time staff).
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Requires valid driver’s license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards
- Requires QMHP Adult Certification
- The ability to obtain CPR, First Aid certifications within 3 months of hire (training provided)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
This position has a high level of engagement with clients, community stakeholders and internal partners. The clinician will have face to face interactions with clients at the CRC as well as with other staff in the department. Ongoing coordination of care with family/supports and referral sources will be an integral part of the position. The candidate will be able to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
