What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician position at City of Irving?

Duties include responding to maintenance requests for recreations centers, aquatic facilities, park properties and other city buildings, and from rental customers and other City departments; opening and closing facility gates; and turning lights on/off for athletic games and scheduled practices. Duties may also include performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical and masonry work – troubleshooting, making repairs and assisting with remodeling projects; preparing and painting interior and exterior walls; assembling, dismantling and moving furniture and other objects; and performing light custodial work. Duties typically will require lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of mechanical maintenance experience are required. Must  have, or be able to obtain, a valid Class C Texas driver’s license and be able to respond to after-hours service calls concerning building maintenance emergencies. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 6am-2:30pm.

  • Individuals hired into this position will receive $1000 after their first 30 days of employment provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
  • Employees that successfully complete their 6-month orientation period will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000 provided there are no documented attendance or disciplinary issues.
  • Employees that successfully complete one year of employment without
    documented attendance or disciplinary issues will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000.
  • The maximum amount of hiring incentive that an individual employee may receive is $3,000.

Salary : $44,280 - $62,448
