GENERAL PURPOSE
To plan, promote, organize and coordinate youth and adult sports leagues, various sports camps, tournaments, and programs. Support recreation activities, special events, and daily operations of the Family Recreation Center, Killeen Community Center, and Senior Centers
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervises athletic programs, officials, scorekeepers, volunteer coaches, spectators, and participants. Enforces rules and safety standards; monitors program activities and assists participants in recreation activities and special programs; reports and resolves complaints, requests, safety conditions, security issues, and illegal activities.
Supports staff in the development and implementation of athletic programs and fitness programs, to include sports leagues, sports camps, and special interest activities.
Performs routine clerical work in answering the phones, receiving the public, and providing customer assistance.
Supervises on-site athletic programs.
Provides support for athletics and activities for persons engaged in recreation/athletic programs and co-sponsored programs.
Provides input and ideas for the promotion and marketing of athletic programs and provides information to be used for marketing materials.
Assists with all sport and special event registration.
Assists with the coordination of schedules and maintenance of related records and statistics for programs, athletic leagues and personnel.
Assists with compiling operational data for reports.
Receives and processes public inquiries and complaints regarding recreation or athletic programs.
Assists in the planning and management of all athletic leagues or events, including design, layout, operation, and inventory.
Assists with all Family Recreation Center building and equipment maintenance and a facility inventory program for recreation and athletic programs.
Assists with all aspects of special event organization including solicitation for sponsorships, volunteer recruitment, and database maintenance for recreation or athletic activities.
Assists with oversight of volunteer/official training for activities associated with department.
Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license and complies with City of Killeen driving policy.
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate Degree; and
- Two years’ related experience working in recreation programs
- Any equivalent combination of related education and experience
- Affiliation with state or national parks and recreation agency; preferred.

- Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to maintain records.

- Ability to work weekends and evenings.
Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one by date of hire.
Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver’s license within 60 days of hire.
Must be available to work nights and/or weekends.
Must possess current American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid certification, or obtain certifications within 1 year of date of hire.
Salary : $21
