GENERAL PURPOSE
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Leads Aviation Line Service Technicians in performance of their duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Operates and maintains large aviation fuel service trucks to fuel civil and military aircraft; operates and maintains aviation fuel storage facilities.
- Performs training of other department line service technicians as required by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139 Certification, and all other training as may be directed by the Line Services Supervisor or the Airport Operations Manager.
- Performs ground guide duties to safely guide aircraft to a proper parking location and perform aircraft towing if requested by the customer or otherwise required.
- Assists the Line Services Supervisor as needed and performs his/her duties in his/her absence.
- Receives payments for aviation services performed to include fuel, pushback, de-icing, etc.
- Performs quality control checks on commercial bulk fuel deliveries.
- Assist with Charter flights, inspecting vehicles before entering the Security Identification Area (SIDA), perform inspections.
- Perform minor building maintenance and grounds maintenance as required, maintenance and repair of airfield, General/Corporate Aviation Building, and Fuel Farm.
- Performs maintenance and preventive maintenance of ground handling equipment, fueling equipment, trucks, fuel tanks, etc.
- Reacts to aviation related emergencies.
- Act as a receptionist for the general aviation terminal building. Greet the public and assist in responding to customer’s request for assistance.
- Employee may serve on committees as required and assigned.
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations; possesses and maintains a valid driver's license, if required, and complies with City of Killeen driving policy accordingly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- Graduate from high school or equivalent; and
- One (1) year experience operating civilian or military aviation fuel service equipment; or,
- Two (2) years' experience as an Aviation Line Services Technician, preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license by date-of-hire and
comply with the City of Killeen driving policy; - Employee must pass a FBI fingerprint-based background check by date-of-hire;
- Employee must pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA) by date-of-hire;
- Employee may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts;

Must have successfully completed an aviation fuel training course in fire safety which is
acceptable to the FAA as meeting the requirements of 14 CFR Part 139.321(e)(1) or must
successfully complete such a course within ninety (90) days of employment.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Computer with word processing and spreadsheet software, copier, fax machine, aviation radios, fuel
truck, de-ice machine, ground power unit, tow tractor, baggage loader, bulk fuel storage facility, motor vehicles, and other equipment as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, fuel fumes or airborne particles, and aircraft noise.
The noise level while performing fueling or ground handling duties is high and requires the use of hearing protection equipment.
