What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT RECREATION CENTER ATTENDANT I position at City of Vero Beach?
Under close supervision, assists City staff and guests with the various programs conducted at assigned facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. The following duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
None.
- Opens and closes facility according to rental schedule. Unlocks facility, adjusts temperature controls, turns on needed lights and helps renters with any needed equipment.
- Secures the building to its previous condition upon conclusion of the scheduled activity.
- Answers phones, takes messages, greets the public, registers members and guests and directs to proper activity/ room.
- May assist with the scheduled or rental event; collects event tickets, serves refreshments, makes announcements, etc.
- Ensures that rental equipment is in proper working order.
- Ensures that audio/visual equipment is properly used and no cords are left uncovered.
- Collects rental and/or program fees.
- Observes standard operating procedures and safety practices. Monitors safety codes such as keeping aisles open, doors accessible and fire code regulations for proper number of people per room. Mops up spills, etc.
- May complete daily cash report and bank deposits.
- Helps with the preparation and assistance of special events.
- May control and organize programs.
- Knowledge of City and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of effective customer service principles and techniques including telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge on how to order supplies.
- Ability to safely operate assigned equipment including audio-visual equipment.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform basic math, operate a cash register, count money and make change.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of facility rules and regulations.
- Works irregular hours as scheduled including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift and carry light items (up to 25 lbs.).
- Telephones, audio-visual equipment, cash register, computer, copy machine, fax machine, small hand tools, facility related machines and laminator.
