Job Title : Research & Development Technical Associate
Duration : 12 Months
Location : Marlborough, MA 01752
Shift : Monday Friday; 40hours week; 9 : 00AM 5 : 00PM
Pay Rate : $28-35 / hr on W2
Job Description : Responsibilities :
Conduct synthesis of polymers from laboratory gram-scale up to several hundred grams
Synthesize simple small molecule monomers using standard organic chemistry techniques
Use analytical tests to characterize products and ensure final product quality
Document experiments and help in the preparation of technology transfer packages
Follow written and verbal protocols from lead chemists and contribute to process improvements
Maintain full compliance with all departmental and site-specific Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality regulations, systems, and procedures covering laboratory and scale-up activities
Perform routine lab and business unit maintenance to keep area clean and orderly
Maintain material database, inventory database and order chemical reagents from suppliers
Competencies :
Polymer chemistry knowledge. Anionic polymerization or air-free synthesis techniques are a plus.
Ability to evaluate safety risks and reactivity concerns in multigram scale multi-step organic synthesis.
Communicate effectively and provide support in a team setting.
Must be highly detail-oriented and organized, able to work both independently and as a team player with a positive attitude.
Demonstrates excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
Demonstrates safe behavior in the laboratory
Use time management strategies to ensure work is performed within required timelines
Participate and present research progress in technical discussions and meetings

Qualifications :
B.S. or M.S in Chemistry- NO PHD candidates
Experience with general laboratory techniques such as reaction set-ups, precipitation, filtration, Schlenk techniques, distillation, closed transfer, crystallization, rotary evaporators, and vacuum pumps / ovens
Perform analysis of compounds and reaction mixtures using common methods :
GPC, MALDI, HPLC, MS, UV / VIS, FT-IR, NMR, TLC, IR, GC-MS)
Excellent organizational skills and accuracy in experimental documentation
Good communication skills and willingness to participate in team discussion
Involvement in process improvement and development of production and test methods
Versatility in common IT applications (Microsoft office)
