Controller

Rapidly Growing E-Commerce Company seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions for a fast-growing retail business. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial operations across high-volume transactions, inventory, revenue recognition, and multi-channel sales platforms. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation paired with direct experience supporting e-commerce businesses from an accounting and financial operations perspective.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition across e-commerce platforms, payment processors, and sales channels
• Maintain general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and journal entries

E-Commerce Accounting Operations

• Manage accounting for high-volume transactions, refunds, chargebacks, and sales tax
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and margin analysis
• Reconcile activity across e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, and payment gateways
• Partner with operations to ensure accurate tracking of inventory and fulfillment costs

Controls & Process Improvement

• Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and accuracy within accounting workflows
• Support audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements

Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage and develop the accounting team, providing oversight and mentorship
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership to support business growth
• Serve as a trusted accounting partner to executive leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Strong accounting background with progressive responsibility in a Controller or senior accounting role
• Direct experience supporting an e-commerce retail business from an accounting perspective
• Deep understanding of revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and transactional accounting at scale
• Experience working with ERP systems and e-commerce platforms
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
