This role is critical for establishing and maintaining an effective cost control system to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets. The ideal candidate will provide key financial insights to support project decision-making, track and forecast costs, and ensure compliance with internal control standards.
Cost Control Engineer Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a cost control system; establish a consolidated Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) in line with company procedures. Monitor project spending and adherence to approved financial plans.
- Prepare timely and accurate cost reports, analyzing actual costs versus budgeted figures and forecasts.
- Detect and assess cost variances; evaluate potential overruns and suggest corrective measures. Track project progress and earned value to estimate accruals and value work-in-progress.
- Generate cost projections for upcoming project phases to support financial planning and resource management.
- Support project risk analysis by contributing cost data and performing Monte Carlo simulations when required.
- Analyze and quantify cost impacts of project changes and claims; support the project team in managing commercial modifications.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to discuss financial performance and resolve cost-related issues.
- Ensure all cost control activities adhere to internal policies, procedures, and standardized reporting requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years in project cost control, project controls, or a related project management discipline.
- Fluency in English required.
- Proficient in developing and managing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
- Strong background in financial analysis and cost control strategies.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with SAP and other project control tools is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders.
