Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to support US and Canadian employees at a local Seattle Manufacturing firm.

Location: Seattle, WA. Hybrid schedule for local candidates: remote Mondays & Fridays, in-office Tuesdays–Thursdays.

Duration: 10 months w/ possible extensions

Compensation: $32.00/hr - $43.00/hr. Estimated range, all experience levels are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support employees across multiple jurisdictions, along with managers, retirees, and external partners, on payroll-related matters from hire through separation or retirement.
• Execute payroll processing activities using an established HRIS/payroll platform and documented procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain payroll records in alignment with legal requirements and internal governance standards.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies and recommend improvements to payroll processes and documentation.
• Audit payroll activity and take ownership of accuracy and timely resolution of payroll-related items.

Education / Experience:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–3 years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally supporting multi-state, cross-border, or regulated environments.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with a computerized payroll or accounting system.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice to Have:

• Experience supporting payroll system implementations or integrations.
• Exposure to complex payroll environments, including unionized or multi-jurisdictional workforces.
