Summary
This position processes the semi-monthly payroll for the salaried and hourly employees of John H. Carter Co., Inc. and its subsidiaries (“the Company”). The individual must ensure that all time entry is complete by the deadline for payroll processing. This position is also responsible for the on-boarding process with new hires.
Essential Duties
Payroll Responsibilities:
Processes regular and bonus payrolls for salaried and hourly employees
Ensures correct levies, garnishments, and others deductions are withheld
Works closely with managers reviewing their employee’s timesheets
Answer manager’s questions on how to properly enter employee’s time into timesheets
Ensures all hourly punches, call-outs and on-call time is recorded in the Company’s HRIS
Reviews timesheets for accuracy and missing time prior to payroll processing
Emails managers in reference to missing time
Processes employee dead inventory sales for entry into payroll
Benefit Responsibilities:
Reconciles general ledger payroll liability accounts
Reconciles monthly insurance invoices
Understands Company’s employee benefit plans
Other Responsibilities:
Handles on-boarding activities
Processes new hires and terminations
Processes employee data changes in Company’s HRIS
Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly reporting
- This job is demanding in terms of knowledge skills, commitment, and all other job-related qualifications. Urgency and pressure for prompt, accurate results are routine. Multi-tasking and the ability to handle and manage interruptions is expected.
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this position.

Education and/or Work Experience-
- 3 to 4 years of payroll processing experience required
- 1 to 2 years of employee benefit experience preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- High School or Equivalent
- Certified Payroll Professional preferred
