Network Engineer 4 – Staunton, VA - In Person - State Client Exp Must Have
Interview: In-person
Duration: 5 months
- Provide Tier 1-3 network support and troubleshooting for campus network users
- Respond to and resolve break/fix requests related to network resources
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical team members and customers
- Design and implement network extensions and connections
- Configure, deploy, and maintain new or replacement network hardware and communications infrastructure
- Maintain accurate project documentation, network architecture details, and inventory/maintenance records
- Monitor network resources for faults, traffic anomalies, and connection issues
- Maintain detailed history of network changes and updates
- Assist ITS Field Maintenance with communications implementation and troubleshooting
- Support team initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity controls, threat hunting, and mitigation efforts
- Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks under resource constraints
- Utilize expertise in Cisco Routing & Switching, VLAN management, network design, subnetting, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and access control lists
- Apply knowledge of authentication systems (Radius, TACACS), Cisco FMC/Firepower, DNS/DHCP, network security, VPN, and remote access technologies
- Experience with wireless technologies is a plus
- 5 years: Cisco Routing & Switching, VLANs, network design, ACLs, subnetting, routing protocols, authentication
- 3 years: Cisco FMC/Firepower, network monitoring, DNS/DHCP, network security, VPN/remote access
- 2 years (preferred): Wireless technologies
