JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Performs clerical, technical and other duties regarding the intake and release of prisoners including contacts with the public and other law enforcement agencies. Performs related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Jail Shift Commander and the Jail Commander.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee may be expected to perform).
- Routine clerical work in Booking/Control Center.
- Composes/types reports.
- Registers and releases prisoners.
- Operates typewriter/computer.
- Prepares records, receipts, etc.
- Operates electronic controls.
- Receives and receipts monies such as bonds, deposits for individual accounts.
- Prepares and maintains required reports and records.
- Performs other related duties as required.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or QUALIFICATIONS: An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following training and experience.
- Some knowledge of office practices.
- Command of English language and spelling skills.
- Reasonable knowledge of Sheriff organization, procedures and operations.
- Speed, skill and accuracy in performing clerical and typing tasks.
- Ability to prepare accurate written records and reports.
- Ability to make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy to complete duty 7.
- Ability to deal with the public and other employees tactfully and courteously.
- Capability to work shifts, seven days a week.
- Ability see and hear well to complete duties 1 - 9.
- Ability to effectively handle stress.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
- Work experience of nine (9) months in a related activity.

Union: POAM / Full-time (40 hour/week, 2,080 hour/year).
Pay Grade: POAMNS02 (Hourly rate listed at the top of this posting)
