We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Commercial Litigation or Bankruptcy Paralegal in Jacksonville, FL. This role involves providing critical support to attorneys handling complex commercial litigation or bankruptcy matters. You will assist with case management, legal research, drafting documents, coordinating discovery, and preparing for trial or hearings. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of commercial litigation or bankruptcy law and a demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in managing commercial litigation or bankruptcy cases from initiation through resolution
- Draft and prepare legal documents such as complaints, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and bankruptcy petitions
- Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, regulations, and other issues relevant to commercial litigation or bankruptcy matters
- Coordinate and manage discovery, including document collection, review, production, and organization of evidence, depositions, interrogatories, and requests for admissions
- Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and other materials
- Prepare and organize documents for bankruptcy filings, including schedules, statements, and petitions, and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines
- Monitor case timelines and deadlines, ensuring timely filing and compliance with court requirements
- Maintain and organize case files (both physical and electronic), ensuring all documents are up to date and accessible
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and experts regarding case developments and scheduling
- Provide administrative support, including managing attorney calendars, scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings
- Prepare billing entries and assist with client invoicing
- Manage bankruptcy claims and motions, including creditor meetings and hearings
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a commercial litigation or bankruptcy paralegal
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program required
- Strong knowledge of commercial litigation or bankruptcy law and procedures, including the Bankruptcy Code, Bankruptcy Rules, and local rules
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software
- Experience with legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
