Position Summary:
The Center for Pre-College Programs is in need of STEM Teachers for various Engineering based Saturday and summer 2025 instruction. The teacher will work with high achieving students in various STEM related classroom instruction.
Teacher / Instructor provides inquiry-based, product-oriented instruction for the students that will enhance students' knowledge, understanding and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) content/concepts, study skills, thinking skills, problem solving strategies and communication skills.
Currently seeking teachers for the following subjects and grade levels for Saturdays and Summer Program 2025 (July 7 - August 7):
- Computer Science - grades 5-11
- Robotics - grades 5-11
- English Language Arts - grades 5-8
- Mathematics - grades 5-11
- Environmental, mechanical, industrial, civil, biomedical, electrical, and computer engineering
- Physical education grades 5-11
- College and Career Readiness Teacher/Counselor
Essential Functions:
- Works collaboratively with appropriate program staff on the content of the instructional program and related activities.
- Provides a teaching plan or class outline, with handouts, for assigned classes that adhere to the guiding principles of the Early College Preparatory Programs.
- Notifies the Program Directors if they must be absent or late for any reason.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Teacher Certification
- Background Check
- Must be a certified elementary, middle or high school teacher in the content area assigned and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Possesses good leadership abilities and communication skills.
- Experienced in hands-on activities and cooperative learning and teaching.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
