Custodial

We are looking to fill 2 positions; one to work an afternoon shift and one to work nights.  Approximately 30-35 hours per week.  Candidates must be self motivated and reliable.  

Job Summary: 

 Custodial staff performs routine cleaning duties. 

 Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
2. Empties trash receptacles, disposes of trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
3. Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas. 
4. Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
5. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
6. Assists in on-the-job training of new volunteer clients on routine procedures.
7. Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal project requirements.
8. May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
9. Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment. 
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Desire to work with and have a positive impact in the lives of people experiencing problems with mental health, substance use disorders, behavioral health and/or legal issues.
2. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
3. Must be able to read, understand, follow and enforce safety protocols.

Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Previous experience in custodial role. 
3. Experience in corrections, mental health and/or behavioral health facilities preferred.

 Physical Requirements:

1. Considerable physical activity, including stairs. Requires physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
2. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
3. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
4. Work may involve indoor or outdoor environments.
