Role:
The Tribal Victim Services Program Manager plans, organizes implements, directs, and evaluates a culturally based program of support services for victims of crime and performs other work as required to achieve the overarching Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Social Services department goal of safe and healthy tribal individuals and families.
Minimum Requirements:
Driving: Valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.
Experience:
MINIUMUM: Three to four years of direct service to victims of crime. Two years of supervisory experience.
PREFERRED:5 years of direct services to victims of crime. 3 years of supervisory experience.
Education:
MINIUMUM: Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields of study: Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology, or equivalent experience in providing services to American Indian crime victims.
PREFERRED: Master's degree in one of the following fields of study: Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and counseling techniques.
- Knowledge of the impact and effects of trauma.
- Knowledge & understanding of the historical trauma in the context of American Indian populations.
- Awareness of community resources available for social, medical, and economic assistance.
- Knowledge of basic budgeting and grant preparation, including writing grant proposals, reporting, and management.
