Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Field Operations Supervisor-Fiber on behalf of a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider. This role is ideal for experienced splicing professionals ready to lead field crews, manage splicing operations, and ensure quality, safety, and efficiency on high-volume projects. You’ll play a key role in training technicians, managing job documentation, and delivering high-quality fiber installations and restorations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily crew operations and assign tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with safety plans, equipment standards, and routine vehicle maintenance.
- Supervise and personally participate in fiber splicing activities, including mid-sheath, ribbon, and loose tube cables.
- Operate fiber optic testing equipment and interpret OTDR and power meter results for troubleshooting.
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation such as work orders, bill of materials, and splice case audits.
- Train and mentor new and existing Fiber Splicers.
- Communicate task progress, concerns, and updates with project managers, engineers, and customers.
- Coordinate customer access and maintain courteous, effective service delivery.
- Track outages, labor, materials, and project milestones.
- Maintain inventory and upkeep of splicing equipment and tools.
- Research and verify fiber routes and update records accordingly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on fiber splicing experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under company policy.
- Availability for 24/7 scheduling needs.
- Proficient in fusion splicing, troubleshooting, and fiber testing with tools such as OTDRs and power meters.
- Knowledge of CWDM, DWDM, and MUX systems.
- Experience reading fiber maps and splicing details.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
