DAY AND EVENING SHIFTS AVAILABLE Monday through Friday
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Care/Day Center Worker to supervise and support children and teenagers at our day center. The Youth Care/Day Center Worker will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the participants, planning and implementing recreational activities, and assisting them in their emotional and social development. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and supervision to children and teenagers attending the day center.
- Promote a safe and nurturing environment that fosters positive behavior and personal growth.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and educational projects.
- Assist participants in their emotional and social development through positive reinforcement and role modeling.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress.
- Encourage and facilitate peer interaction and cooperative play among participants.
- Address behavioral issues promptly and in accordance with established protocols.
- Administer first aid when required and ensure that safety procedures are followed.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and execute special events, field trips, and holiday celebrations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, incidents, and participant progress.
- Regularly communicate with supervisors regarding concerns, participant issues, or any potential improvements to the program.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree in social work or related field DHHS preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or teenagers in a similar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and an understanding of the challenges faced by youth.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with participants, parents, and co-workers.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt communication style to various audiences.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to recognize and respond to potential safety hazards or emergency situations.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with office software applications.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certificates (training can be provided).
- Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR and current car insurance.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
Available Hours: 8a-3p Monday - Friday OR 3p-9p Monday - Friday
Working Conditions:
- The Youth Care/Day Center Worker will primarily work indoors, in a well-ventilated and temperature-controlled environment. The position may require the ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds, as well as bending, stooping, kneeling, and prolonged standing or sitting. The job may also involve occasional outdoor activities or field trips, subject to weather conditions.
