In this role you will.....
Help people deal with their emotions and experiences, and meeting their support needs during the recovery process. You will assist the client achieve in articulating their goals for recovery, learning and practicing new skills, helping the client monitor their progress, support them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on their own recovery experiences. You will use your own experience and training to give them the tools to continue to heal.

Schedule - Monday to Friday - 7pm-7am and every other weekend.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention.
Assists in dealing with personal and social problems of clients.
May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services.
Prepares lesson plans for group topics, maintains medical records and documents daily group notes.
Performs case management duties, and group skills training and refers clients to needed services and resources.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictive disease, and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness (current or former consumer of mental health services).
Applicants must hold a Certified Peer Specialist Certificate and a GED or High School diploma.
In addition, applicants must demonstrate strong reading comprehension and written communication skills.
You must have demonstrated experience with leadership, advocacy, or governance, and be well grounded in your recovery (one year between diagnosis and application to the training).
Must meet the Qualifications for Peer Specialist as defined by the DBHDD Peer Specialist Project.
