Special Education Paraprofessional
Rochester Beacon Academy is seeking a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional for the 24-25 school year. As a public charter school, Rochester Beacon Academy serves students in grades 6-12 and our SOAR 18-22 year old transition program with varying needs. Rochester Beacon Academy’s students and staff provide a welcoming community and are dedicated to the differentiated needs of all students.
Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with teachers to assist with IEP modifications and accommodations
- Supervise student activities such as lunch, recess, and assemblies
- Support students when they are dysregulated
- Work with students when they need breaks
- Assist teachers with implementation of IEP modifications, accommodations, and BIP’s
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Communicate with parents regarding student behavior, grades, and other matters
- Data collection and tracking of students progress related to IEP goals
- Assist in monitoring supplementary work and one to one activities
- Assist students with physical needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Experience with middle/high school students preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
