Medical Authorization & Intake Specialist

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Medical Authorization & Intake Specialist for a fast-growing health tech client. This exciting Temp-to-Hire opportunity is fully remote.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Authorization & Intake Specialist to manage the full workflow for biologic and specialty therapies in an outpatient setting. This includes intake, benefits verification (BV), prior authorization (PA), medical policy review (MPR), and supporting billing and reimbursement. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven startup improving care delivery using advanced technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Triage and process new patient referrals for specialty and biologic therapies
• Conduct benefits verification and interpret payer-specific coverage requirements
• Submit and track prior authorizations, including follow-ups, escalations, and appeals
• Review and apply payer medical policy criteria to documentation
• Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to ensure accurate claims and reimbursement
• Use Mandolin’s proprietary coordination software for daily workflow management

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with intake, BV, PA, MPR, and/or billing workflows in an outpatient care setting (e.g., infusion centers, clinics, or ambulatory care)
• Prior exposure to biologics or specialty therapies strongly preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and organization
• Strong communication skills and a comfort level working with digital tools
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment and take feedback constructively

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $40 - $44/hour, with the potential to convert to full-time. Upon conversion, employees will be eligible for benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and additional perks aligned with a fast-paced startup environment.
