Armed Security Officer – Part-Time (Event Security) - Ludington, Michigan
Job Description:
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Armed Security Officers to join our team on a part-time basis in Ludington, Michigan. This role primarily involves providing security for concerts and performances, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of high-profile events. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in security, law enforcement, or military service, and will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment for all attendees and staff.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Monitor Security Operations: Vigilantly oversee all activities at ingress and egress points of the venue, ensuring comprehensive security coverage throughout the event.
- Maintain Situational Awareness: Remain alert and aware of surroundings at all times, minimizing distractions such as cell phone use to maintain optimal focus.
- Report Concerns: Immediately report any safety or security concerns to appropriate channels for prompt resolution.
- Advise and Prevent: Counsel personnel to avoid actions that could jeopardize safety, and prevent the entry of prohibited items, underage drinking, and smoking within the venue.
- Deescalate Situations: Engage with unruly or disorderly patrons to defuse tense situations, potentially involving local law enforcement and escorting individuals off the premises if necessary.
- Ensure Patron Safety: Provide security for entertainment personnel and enforce safety protocols at all entrances and exits.
- Collaborate with Venue Staff: Work in coordination with venue staff to support overall safety and security efforts, contributing to a secure and well-organized event environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related fields is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to handle a physical workload, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Security Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with security equipment such as radios and cameras.
- Licensing and Equipment: Valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) required. Possession of a legal personal sidearm or the ability to acquire one is necessary. A Level 2 (or higher) retention holster is required.
- Background Requirements: Must have no criminal history and be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Weather Adaptability: Ability to work outdoors and endure inclement weather conditions.
Compensation:
- Pay Range: $16 - $30 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Schedule:
- Work Hours: Part-time, with events typically scheduled Thursday through Sunday. There is no standard schedule, as work hours are event-dependent.
