Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Emergency Services to join our team. As the Director of Emergency Services Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department. Your role will involve personnel management, resource allocation, and implementing effective controls to promote service growth and development.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and address real or potential problems affecting the service, implementing solutions and ensuring effective communication and follow-through.
- Participate actively in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, providing ongoing communication to represent the department's interests.
- Advance the patient experience agenda in the Emergency Department
- Coach and provide constructive feedback to immediate subordinates, facilitating their individual development plans and documenting their job performance.
- Adhere to all Human Resource policies and effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff.
- Foster evidence-based employee engagement practices
- Build strong relationships and networks to achieve organizational and department goals.
- Participate in employee and patient rounding, identifying and mentoring potential future leaders.
- Enforce standards of emergency department care and develop processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing emergency services program aligned with the Hospital's mission.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies for patient services, as well as environmental and personnel safety.
- Oversee a performance improvement program that consistently evaluates critical aspects of care.
- Ensure operational excellence in the department, delivering quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens protocols.
- Support the recruitment process to secure talented staffing professionals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Master’s degree in nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care director experience in a large emergency services unit; candidates with manager experience from a very large ER functioning as a director will also be considered.
- Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of practice, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

- Number of Beds: 28
- Trauma Level: 3 (pursuing level 2)
- Daily Volume: Approximately 139 patients per day
- Acuity Level: High acuity cases
- Reporting Structure: Director > 2 Managers; Reports to Administrative Director
- Number of Full-Time Employees (FTEs): Approximately 100-120
- Director-level experience is a must.
