Salary: $141,481/year based on experience
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Surgical Services to lead our perioperative team and ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care. This is a full-time position with no weekend shifts. As the Director of Surgical Services, you will have 24/7 responsibility for the departments under your supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify real and potential problems affecting the service and implement effective solutions with clear follow-through and communication.
- Actively participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, providing ongoing communication and representation.
- Advance the customer experience in Surgical Services and maintain a strong focus on patient satisfaction.
- Coach subordinates through providing feedback, constructive critique of work, facilitating individual development plans, and documenting job performance.
- Adhere to all Human Resource policies and ensure compliance within the department.
- Effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff.
- Facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practices and promote a positive work culture.
- Build strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goals.
- Participate in employee and patient rounding, identify potential future leaders, and provide mentoring and support.
- Enforce standards of care for surgical services and develop processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing surgical services program that aligns with the hospital's mission and ensures quality patient care.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies, as well as environmental, patient, and personnel safety standards.
- Oversee a performance improvement program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
- Ensure the delivery of quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens guidelines.
- Enforce safe procedural sites and patient verification policies.
- Monitor and respond to quality event reporting and implement appropriate actions.
- Support new program strategies and enhancements to expand patient services.
- Develop, prioritize, and defend capital equipment requests.
- Manage the fiscal resources of the department and ensure proper utilization of the organization's financial resources.
- Advance the growth agenda for Surgical Services and strive to become the OR of Choice for physicians, patients, staff, and payers.
- Demonstrate a poised and confident demeanor that reassures others and commands respect within the organization and the community.
- Build strategic internal and external networks to support the department's goals.
- Promote consistent positive patient interactions and deliver unparalleled patient service.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Master’s degree in nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a leadership role preferred, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state of practice, in accordance with the law and regulations.
- Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.
- Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification preferred.
