Family Outreach Specialist
Summary:
The Family Outreach Specialist will provide quality family outreach services as a specialist who establishes ongoing contact through visits in the homes of families who have completed Children Youth and Family Departmental interactions and service.
Qualifications:
Education. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special education, social work, or related field is preferred.
Experience. Services in early childhood or family interactions and assistance.
Education/Experience substitution. High School Diploma or GED, plus 2 years’ experience in early childhood experience or family interactions and assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assure accurate documentation for all billable services to maintain revenue flow.
- Arrange opportunities for parent education and psychoeducation.
- Coordinate, in conjunction with the Program Manager and other Tresco Children Services.
- Assist families to alleviate adverse conditions in order to promote their resiliency; this social worker function will address barriers to treatment through comprehensive environmental and systemic needs assessments (i.e., example: a family who misses appointments due to unemployment or no access to transportation or phone.).
- Linking families to legal resources.
- Be a consultant for TOTS Family Service Coordinators, Service Providers and Day One Home Visitors.
- Assist medically involved families.
- Assist environmentally at-risk families.
- Coordinate the more intensive services needed by some CYFD-referred families by referring to either TOTS or Day One Home Visiting along with other community partners as required.
- Supervise BA and MA Level social work interns, as appropriate.
- Provide direct family outreach support as required within the scope of work and competence.
- Actively seek supervision and/or consultation as well as professional development opportunities (online CEUs, seminars, etc.) to maintain current certification and/or licensure that may be required.
- Collaborate with other staff and community agencies, acting as an interagency liaison for collaboration of policies (alike with CYFD, Family Infant and Toddler, Early Childhood Education and Care Department).
- Review and recommend policy and procedures changes as needed.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships that will foster program quality and staff development.
- Act as liaison between Children’s Services and all other Tresco programs.
- Present positive and holistic view that guides Tresco to outside agencies, regulatory or oversight agencies to assist in long term funding and planning.
- Develop long-range planning in order to improve quality of service and meet community needs.
- Become an experienced early intervention evaluator.
- Become familiar with the skill sets required for Family Outreach under CYFD and Tresco policies.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
- Bilingual skills are not required but are beneficial.
- Ability to respond to emails.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and video conference platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to utilize technology i.e., Smart Phone and Laptop
- Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to meet schedule needs.

Rate of Pay: $22. 00 to $27.00 per hour DOE
