As our Applications Engineer, you will be a part of a knowledgeable and well-diverse engineering team who loves to have fun and get stuff done! You will provide cost-effective bulk cable and cable assembly as well as custom interconnect design solutions based on direct customer interaction and knowledge of the application for their assigned customer base and market segment. The application engineer will work together with the Sales Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Quality, Production, and Process Engineering in support of our customer’s needs. The application engineer may also be tasked with developing new and innovative products based on customer input, market trends, and company strategy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Industry-related experience
- 3 years of engineering in a manufacturing environment, bulk cable and/or cable assembly preferred
- Bachelor of Science engineering degree – Electrical, Industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, chemical, material science from an accredited college or university achieving a 3.0 GPA preferred
- Excellent knowledge of bulk cable and cable assembly design, materials, components, processes, and electrical/mechanical testing and regulatory approvals; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, AutoCAD, Access database navigation, and Internet; excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Lean manufacturing - Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt is a plus
- A thorough understanding of Regulatory requirements and their impact on process requirements is a must. (UL, CSA, NEC, cUL, IEC, CE, RoHS, ISO 9001)

- Technical Customer Support, Satisfaction, and communication - including travel as necessary
- Long-Term Organic Growth - support the sales process and strategy for profitability by being focused on technical customer support, communication, accurate and timely quotes, OTD, and customer satisfaction
- NBO Adds / NBO Bookings and Wins - support thereof
- Culture - Champion the Winchester culture while helping to create a strong organization
How will you Collaborate?
You will collaborate across Winchester and the Sales Team in a way that leads by example, holds people accountable, and utilizes data to make informed decisions. You will actively participate on behalf of the Sales team both internally and externally on NPI projects, Quoting, Engineering requirements, RMA’s, CAR’s, production, and general customer service. (focus on new, support old when needed). You will have a positive, engaged, and infectious attitude that's easy to work with and aligns with our culture.
What are you Empowered to do?
- Support the sales strategy for short & long-term organic growth with measurable KPIs and results that align with the budgeted bookings, revenue, and EBITDA goals
- Strengthen/build your relationships with Key Customers and the Sales team (on travel and virtually)
- Collaborate frequently with other departments to ensure accurate and timely quotes, customer satisfaction, OTD, and communication are met
- Identify and develop target customers with profitable opportunities that fit our core technologies that we should support for long-term organic growth
- Provide technical training/support to our Sales Team and Customers that reinforce the right behaviors (use the tools as necessary)
- Communicate with the internal teams at a cadence that makes expectations and performance clear
- Determine the best usage of your time in terms of travel, customer service, calls, communications, reports, etc. to accomplish the overall goal of supporting sales while meeting KPIs
- Provide industry and market feedback to the team for products, CAPEX, and growth ideas
