Purpose
To handle logs without damage to them, build even log decks that can be walked on and handled by the wheel machine to feed the sawmill without slowing production.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures
- Build safe log decks to put water on
- Unload and load log trucks
- Feed oversize logs into the mill
- Must know all log species
- Sort logs and work around log yard personnel in a safe manner
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Education and Continuous Training
- Lock Out/Tag Out Trained
- Must be safety minded while working in a production environment
Wage and Benefits Information
- $25.00/hr starting wage

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Lifting and physical activity is required for this position, must be able to move boards and wood pieces. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
