JOB OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager is responsible for driving timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, as well as managing the general ledger. The individual also helps guide process improvement and system development aimed at strengthening the overall infrastructure and operations. The Accounting Manager provides support to division budget managers for planning, forecasting, budgeting, and transactional activities, and supports audits and resolves audit inquiries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the annual Financial Statement Audit in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP'')
  • Maintain the accuracy of customer financial information in the accounting system
  • Prepare consolidating schedules, reconciliations, and post required journal entries
  • Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit, including the preparation of audit schedules and documentation
  • Establish and communicate financial reporting procedures, schedules, and deadlines to all appropriate staff
  • Supervise and mentor an accounting team of 3 professionals, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to support financial planning and decision-making
  • Resolve inquiries (which may include providing technical advice concerning accounting principles).
  • Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
  • Prepare analysis of financial statements to provide context on financial results
  • Prepare and maintain timely monthly financial reports, including P&L, GL, cash flow statements, and consolidated financial statements
  • Lead the full-cycle accounting process, including but not limited to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking reconciliations (e.g., investment activity, lease activities, accrual and reclass journal entries, in-kind activity, debt-related journal entries
  • Maintain a list of all balance sheet reconciliation assignments, including preparer, reviewer, and frequency, and ensure all reconciliations are completed according to the schedule
  • Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts (e.g., establish new accounts, review and deactivate inactive accounts)
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to support the finance and accounting function

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, LICENSE, and/or CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Administration, or a related field

EXPERIENCE and/or KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting
  • Experience preparing financial statements and analyses for management and the Board
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Dynamics
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office i.e Excel

SKILL and/or ABILITIES

  • Spanish is a plus, but not required
