Position Description: This position is responsible for course design, pedagogical training and support, technological integration and support, and research and development for courses. Present professional development and training for faculty in all modalities. Provide first looks for courses reviews to ensure quality, consistency with the curriculum, currency, and advancement of the student learning outcomes in accordance with the predetermined appropriate standards of quality. Develop, implement training, support, and consultation with faculty to facilitate quality design and development of courses. Position Responsibilities: 40.00% - Course Design:
Serve as the primary source for course design services and training.
Design courses in the LMS in cooperation with instructors and departments.
Design course tools as needed for instructors.
Design Templates for orientations, college policies, and general course design.

20.00% - Pedagogical Training and Support:
Utilize in depth knowledge of pedagogy and theory to analyze a broad range of data and courses and provide specialized support, training and consultation with faculty to facilitate quality design and development of courses.
Consultation focused on instructor need including course development.
Provide support to ensure that the instructional content and strategy and the medium/media chosen to deliver courses will be pedagogically effectual, accessible to students, and receptive to different learning styles.
Develop pedagogical applications for technology tools.

20.00% - Technology Integration Administration, Training, and Support:
Serve as Administrator for LMS plugins and tools.
Provide professional development workshops for LMS tools.
Provide technical assistance for Learning Management System and course development.
Assess needs and make recommendations for courseware and equipment to support the needs o faculty and students.
Research and select resources compatible with Barton's technology and infrastructure.
Make recommendations to faculty concerning available technology relevant to their disciplines and curriculum.

10.00% - Quality Assurance:
Review and evaluate selected courses to ensure quality, consistency with the curriculum, currency, and advancement of the student learning outcomes in accordance with the predetermined appropriate standards of quality.
Work with administration and faculty to develop and maintain appropriate standards of quality in all courses
Work in partnership with academic deans, faculty, and support staff to ensure that the college designs, develops, and delivers a comprehensive array of modalities, instructional credit and non-credit courses and programs.

5.00% - Other Tasks:
Confer with Director of Instructional Excellence relevant to vision, mission, and relationship to institutional strategic plan.
Communicate with administrators, faculty, and staff relevant to Center instructional services to ensure college-wide consistency and standardization.

5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity. Maintain a current knowledge of distance learning pedagogy and instructional technology.

Travel Requirements:
Normal travel - ability to travel for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops between campuses and instructional sites and out of the area;

Must be able to travel by air as needed to attend training, conferences, and related activities;

Overnight travel as required.

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves motivating others and maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Also expected to maintain positive and effective relationships outside of the department so as to actively influence online course quality priorities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Education - A master's degree. Interpersonal Skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Other Skills -

REQUIRED:
Master's Degree.

Experience as an Online instructor.

Knowledge of distance learning pedagogy.

PREFERRED:
Experience related to the position, especially faculty support and training. Proven experience with distance learning principles and course design and instruction.

Excellent customer service skills and organizational skills.

Excellent technology skills including Microsoft Office, multiple LMS', other software, and ability to master programs quickly.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom. Wages/Other: The salary range for this position is $51,218.96 to $57,129.63.
