The Cafe Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring that the Opportunity Coffee and Cafe operates to the highest standards, shaping a unique cafe experience. As a Cafe Associate, you will collaborate closely with a dedicated team to provide exceptional customer service while crafting expertly made experiences that embody love, grace, dignity, and respect. Additional duties, including but not limited to the following:
General Activities
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming environment
- Take accurate orders and answer questions about the menu
- Provide recommendations and upsell specialty items
- Follow recipes and presentation standards for consistency
- Process payments (cash, credit, mobile) accurately
- Restock cups, lids, syrups, and other supplies
- Preparing all cafe items to customer specifications
- Stocking shelves, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting with ordering supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations
- Operating the POS system, processing transactions, and handling cash and credit card payments
- ServSafe certification preferred; the Arizona Food Handler Card is required
- Supportive, reliable, and collaborative with coworkers and cafe leadership
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Record and report outcomes of GRM Coffee & Cafe's efforts as outlined in the department playbook
- Performs other related duties as requested
- Cleanliness & Food Safety: Knowledge of hygiene standards and safe food handling practices
- Creativity: Ability to personalize drinks or create latte art to enhance the guest experience
- Problem-Solving: Quick thinking when handling customer concerns or equipment issues
- Experience in a fast-paced customer-facing environment is strongly valued
- Familiarity with espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment is a plus
- Achieve weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual success goals as approved by GRM benchmarks and the strategic plan
- Attend professional training and networking opportunities as directed
- Attend staff meetings or other meetings as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum HS diploma or GED required; 1 year of experience in Customer Service, retail, or related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and POS systems
- ServSafe certification preferred; Arizona Food Handler Card required
- Proficient with accounting software and standard office and accounting equipment
- Personal integrity, truthfulness, and accountability are critical, invaluable, and essential characteristics
- Maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and have a clean driving record
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Must be Christian, living a life dedicated to Christ, and be an instrument of God’s love, grace, hope, and forgiveness to all
- Some local travel to other locations for meetings or other business-related needs
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- The population we serve is typically in crisis. This can cause emotional stress and compassion fatigue. GRM highly promotes employee self-care
- Full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt
