Our California-based healthcare client is looking for a Project Manager with healthcare IT, HRIS systems and supply chain management experience to join their team as they undergo a Workday implementation .
This candidate must be local to the San Jose, San Francisco or Sacramento area, and willing to accommodate a hybrid schedule.
This role leads complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives across the client, directing cross-functional teams and managing three or more concurrent, large-scale projects involving enterprise technology, HR systems, workforce management, and operational process redesign. The Project Manager IV operates independently with expert-level authority, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, adherence to PMI standards, and successful integration with other enterprise initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead full life-cycle delivery of HRIS, HCM, WFM, and related healthcare IT initiatives.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, communication plans, risk mitigation strategies, and ROI metrics.
- Oversee project teams, including additional Project Managers and Coordinators, ensuring clear accountability and execution.
- Drive workflow redesign, system optimization, and standardized process improvements.
- Manage system configuration, testing, integrations, and deployment in partnership with IT, HR, Finance, and operations.
- Facilitate strong stakeholder engagement, executive reporting, and change-management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with PMI project management standards and Sutter Health governance.
- Significant experience leading enterprise HRIS, HCM, and WFM implementations, ideally within healthcare environments.
- Hands-on involvement with system configuration, workflow design, integrations, data migration, and end-user deployment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex operational and technical interdependencies across large matrixed organizations.
- Candidates should possess strong proficiency in:
- SQL and relational databases
- Reporting and analytics tools such as Cognos, SSRS, Crystal Reports
- Integration and ETL tools such as Informatica and SSIS
- Major HRIS platforms (e.g., UKG Pro, Workday, PeopleFluent)
- General database management, data validation, and troubleshooting
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and partner effectively with developers and system analysts.
- Experience in business process redesign across HR, payroll, timekeeping, and workforce operations.
- Strong background in change management, including communication planning, stakeholder alignment, and training.
- Proven success stabilizing or turning around delayed, complex system projects.
- Ability to coach and develop high-performing project teams.
- Skilled in influencing cross-functional leaders and driving clarity in ambiguous or evolving environments.
