What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIFEGUARD position at Kenosha YMCA?
Primary Function
Lifeguards are responsible for the welfare and safety of all participants in and around the swimming pool and deck. Responsible for ensuring that patrons using the pool for different purposes (i.e., open swimming, lap swimming and instruction) blend together with minimal conflict.
Education/Certification/Licensing and Other Requirements
- 15 yrs with valid Work Permit
- Current certification in Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid
- Current certification in Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- 0-6 month experience
- Ability to control up to 30 people in a pool environment
- Ability to work independently and stay alert
- Ability to resolve issues in professional manner.
- Knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- Leadership and public relations skills
- Decision-making skills
- Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law for individuals over 18yrs.
