What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bald Mountain Snowmaker position at Sun Valley Resort?
Snowmakers are responsible for the safe operation of the Snowmaking system. This job is done around the clock when conditions permit. Operations include remotely or physically checking snowguns traveling on foot, on a snowmobile, on a snowcat, on a snowboard, or skis. Snowmakers will be at either Bald Mountain or Dollar Mountain.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor snowguns remotely via a computer located in Snowmaking Headquarters or by physical inspection
- Remotely or manually operate pumps, fans, and compressors. Snowmakers must also inspect all machines frequently
- Safely travel via snowmobile, snowcat, snowboard or ski
- Follow daily plans and instructions to ensure targets and goals are being met in a safe and efficient manner
- Snow removal either manually, with a snowblower or plow
- Operate with and assist other departments in daily operations as needed
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A passion for the outdoors
- Basic computer skills
- Proven success as a team player
- Be able to read, write and understand English
- Be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to enjoy working outside in all conditions
- Be able to work either day shift (8 am – 4 pm), swing shift (4 pm – 12 am) or graveyard shift (12 am – 8 am)
- Intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability is not required but is a plus
