Associate Professor/Clinical - Stroke Neurologist (1.0 FTE)
Job Description:
The ideal candidate is a board-certified neurologist with subspecialty training in vascular neurology qualified for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The essential duties of this position include: 1) the care of adult patients with acute stroke, stroke risk factors or other cerebrovascular disease; 2) diagnosing and providing effective comprehensive management of neurovascular and other neurological disorders; 3) teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and 4) participation in clinical trials or laboratory-based research. Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board certified/board eligible in Neurology and Vascular Neurology.
Responsible for clinical service, teaching, and clinical investigation.
Lead and direct all stroke-related care and clinical programs at UConn Health, including management of certification applications to the Joint Commission and other certifying organizations.
Oversee quality control and data management related to stroke care at UConn Health
Provide clinical care for patients in the Neurology Outpatient Clinic, with a specific focus on vascular neurology, as well as other general neurological disorders when needed.
Perform consultations and admit patients with acute neurological disorders to John Dempsey Hospital.
Teach medical students, neurology residents and fellows in outpatient clinic and John Dempsey Hospital.
Organize and direct research efforts associated with vascular neurology.
Minimum Qualifications: Neurology residency; Board certified/eligible neurologist with fellowship training in vascular neurology
Special and Preferred Qualifications: Board certified/eligible in Vascular Neurology
